Use case · Activate RMI

Turn an RMI subscription into a working command centre

Google Maps Roads Management Insights gives you the data: BigQuery tables and Pub/Sub feeds. It does not give you the dashboards, alerts, baselines and reports a control room actually runs on. Trafficure is the activation layer, built by Lepton, the authorized RMI reseller and a 15+ year Google partner.

The gap

RMI is the plumbing, not the product

Google Maps Roads Management Insights launched in 2025 as a data layer. It gives you the Roads Selection API to define your network, historical travel-time patterns delivered via BigQuery, and near-real-time speed intervals streamed over Pub/Sub at a roughly two-minute refresh. It is aggregated, anonymized movement from more than a billion Google Maps and Waze devices. What it does not give you is a screen anyone can run a city from.

Between the raw feed and a working control room sits the activation layer: dashboards a duty officer reads at a glance, alerts that fire as congestion forms, baselines built from history, and the reports a commissioner signs off on. Building that yourself on top of RMI is real engineering, and most teams underestimate it.

The build you skip

What the activation layer actually takes

  1. 01

Ingest · Wire BigQuery and Pub/Sub into live state

Pull historical patterns and the near-real-time speed stream, normalize 15,000+ road segments per city against the road graph, and keep a full cycle running under 120 seconds.

  2. 02

Baseline · Build baselines worth comparing against

Derive expected behaviour from 90 days of history so the platform knows what normal looks like before it can flag what is not.

  3. 03

Alert · Detect and route the alerts

Fire as congestion forms, with configurable thresholds, auto-resolve and priority levels, then route to the command centre, WhatsApp or SMS, email, Slack, webhook and X.

  4. 04

Report · Turn it into reports people sign off on

CityPulse traffic-health scores, PDF report generation, and exports in standard formats with no vendor lock-in.

The shortcut

Productized, not bespoke

Doing that work from scratch is four to six months of engineering before a single officer sees a useful screen. Trafficure already is that layer. Because the dashboards, alerts, baselines and reports are built and proven, activation is a deployment, not a development project, and the time-to-value collapses from months to weeks.

Plumbing to product

RMI is the plumbing. This is the product.

The raw feed arrives from BigQuery and Pub/Sub. What a city actually operates is the layer above it: a live corridor view, a dashboard, and an alert already on its way to a duty officer.

How you engage

Three ways to get to production

Lepton is the authorized RMI reseller in India and the UAE, so the data and the activation layer can be bought together or activated on top of what you already hold. The path is the same destination, a live command centre on your own road network, with different starting points.

  1. 01

Path A · RMI plus activation, together

Buy the RMI data subscription and the Trafficure activation layer as one engagement. Four to eight weeks from signature to production.

  2. 02

    Path B · Partner-led through your SI

Run it through the agency's existing system integrator, with Trafficure as the activation layer they deploy.

  3. 03

Path C · Activate an existing RMI subscription

Already buying RMI? We turn the subscription you already pay for into a working command centre in two to four weeks.

What it changes

What activation changes

  1. 01

A subscription that finally earns out

RMI you already pay for stops being unactivated tables and starts being a screen a duty officer runs the city from.

  2. 02

    Weeks, not a build cycle

No standing up a data team to reinvent dashboards, alerts and reports. The activation layer is already built and proven.

  3. 03

    Built by Google's partner

The same partner that deploys Google's data, with a 15+ year Google partnership behind the deployment.

Proof

Activated, not theoretical

This is the layer running live in Pune, the first Indian city with software-only city-wide traffic management, deployed with Pune City Traffic Police and Google India. In a 45-day pilot across 550 monitored zones, average speed moved from 20 to 26.8 km/h, a 34% gain. The platform surfaced and closed 39,734 congestion build-ups, with a median clearance of 26 minutes.
