Where SmartBuild captures the build
Construction quality and compliance are decided in the field, span by span, before anything is backfilled or closed. Each scenario below starts from a real question the project owner has to answer, and shows the capture that puts evidence on record at the moment of work.

Start from the question, not the map
SmartBuild is compliance and operations first. It starts from the questions the project owner and the contractor hierarchy actually have to answer in the field: was this dug to depth, is this the duct we paid for, is the restoration done, can we prove the field asset and the safety state at the moment of work. The map is the interface that holds the answer, not the reason to buy.
The capture scenarios
What SmartBuild puts on record
- 01
Depth and trench, proven span by span
"Was the trench actually dug to the depth and dimensions we signed off?" Captured-point depth and trench evidence taken in the field, geotagged and validated as the work happens, so depth is on record before the trench is backfilled. Captured-point accuracy and depth, as a target
Trench - 02
Duct, manhole and restoration, captured as built
"Are the duct, the manhole and the surface restoration what we paid for?" Duct color and tape, manhole depth, splice and clamp, last-mile cable clips and manhole-cover condition, each captured at source and checked by computer vision. Four of the six proven CV use cases
Duct and manhole - 03
Site safety and field assets, proven at the action
"Can we show the field asset and the site safety state at the moment of work?" Pole equipment identification and field-asset counts captured from images, with auto-fill that speeds the record and removes the chance to tamper with it after the fact. Pole inspection, the sixth proven CV use case
Safety and poles
What every scenario shares
Evidence at source, not a report filed later
The cost of non-compliance is paid late: invoice rejection, audit penalties, network degradation, safety incidents, and digging multiple pits to find your own fiber during a repair. Each scenario here answers that the same way, by capturing the evidence at the moment of construction, validating it as the work happens, and locking the next step so it opens only after the prior evidence checks out. The record is built once, in the field, rather than reconstructed from photos that may not match the stretch they describe.
The build, captured as a sequence of provable points.
Trench, duct, manhole, last-mile cable, restoration and pole are not six tools. They are six points on one corridor, each captured as evidence at the moment of work, so the record never depends on a photo taken somewhere else.
Where it stands
Proven in proof of concept, building toward v1
SmartBuild is in active build, with v1 in progress. The six computer-vision use cases above, trench, duct, manhole, last-mile cable clips, manhole-cover condition and pole equipment identification, are proven in proof of concept. More are on the roadmap, including cabinets, trench restoration, crew personal protective equipment and site barricading. Read the thinking behind each scenario in the cluster pages, and how capture becomes a trusted record in how it works.
